Fodor's Expert Review The Plaza Seoul, Autograph Collection

Downtown Seoul's most strikingly unique luxury hotel offers all the comforts of a Marriott without sacrificing its local identity, plus a spa, fitness center, and six restaurants and bars. Planned by famous Italian designer Guido Ciompi, at first glance the Plaza appears almost too contemporary until one notices the incorporation of traditional Korean elements and patterns. Each type of guest room has a different style, though all combine clever design ideas, a rich color scheme, and ultramodern design. Service is unobtrusive but courteous and efficient. As with most hotels downtown, the standard rooms are a bit small, but the aesthetics and use of space are impressive.
