Fodor's Expert Review Jurong Bird Park

Greater Singapore Zoo/Aquarium

The region's leading bird park hosts the largest walk-in aviary in the world, with a 100-foot man-made waterfall (the world's tallest), in addition to another exquisite walk-in, the Southeast Asian Birds Aviary, where a simulated tropical thunderstorm arrives every day at noon. More than 5,000 birds from over 300 species are here, including hornbills, hummingbirds, parrots, and penguins. In contrast, the view from Jurong Hill is of the factories that crank out Singapore's economic success.

If you arrive early, try breakfast at the Lodge on Flamingo Lake or catch the Lory Feeding (the first is at 9) at the huge Waterfall Aviary. The penguins, bee-eaters, and starlings are fed on a regularly scheduled basis at the Waterfall Aviary. Birdz of Play, a bird-themed playground with both wet and dry features, will keep the kids happily entertained.
