Fodor's Expert Review Adachi Museum of Art

Matsue Garden Fodor's Choice
The gardens at the Adachi are some of the most breathtaking in all of Japan. Although visitors cannot enter the gardens themselves, the path around them reveals new delights around every corner. Adding to their beauty is the backdrop of the low hills and forests beyond. The museum interior has a large selection of 19th- and 20th-century Japanese masters as well as temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The visit is well worth the hour-long trip from Matsue Station. Try to arrive when the museum opens to avoid the group tours that start arriving around 10:30.
