Fodor's Expert Review Resort Hotel Mihagi
485 Horiguchi, Hagi, Yamaguchi-ken, 758-0057, Japan
Considering its view over the sea, spacious rooms, and proximity to Hagi's old town, Mihagi is a surprising value. The hotel's public hot spring is modern and has a variety of baths with views over the beach. Meals are based around fresh, local seafood and local wagyu beef. Although most of the lodging in the area either veers towards expensive luxury or budget guesthouses, Mihagi is one of the few hotels that offers privacy and relaxation at a reasonable price.
PROS
- huge rooms
- relaxing atmosphere
- a short walk from most of Hagi's sights
CONS
- Wi-Fi is limited to the lobby
- the hotel is a hike from the station—take a taxi
- Western-style rooms are clean, but have dated design
