Fodor's Expert Review Akita Castle Hotel

1-3-5 Naka Dori, Akita, Akita-ken, 010-0001, Japan

Akita Castle Hotel has bright and airy rooms overlooking the moats of Senshu Park. Upon entering the lobby you are greeted by a Picasso painting. Ask for rooms on the fifth or sixth floor for better views, and eat breakfast at a window seat in the Japanese restaurant. Azaleas are in full bloom in the park in May and June. For a big splurge, request the Room Imperial where the imperial family stays.
