Fodor's Expert Review Jal Mahal
Sampling a mix of European and Indian fare—pastas, kebabs, salads, sandwiches—-washed down with cold Indian beer, at this pretty restaurant in the Trident hotel, makes for a welcome, if slightly expensive, break after a morning of sightseeing at Jaipur's fortresses. It's a few kilometers from Amer Fort, and named after the nearby palace in the middle of Mansagar Lake. The grilled red snapper is one of the best dishes on their menu, as is the grilled tenderloin served with roast potatoes. But it's also an opportunity to try a sumptuous Rajasthani thali—traditional laal maas or spiced mutton is part of the offering—in a pleasing, clean setting.
