Fodor's Expert Review Frangipani
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The sumptuous Mughal-style gardens of Taj's Jai Mahal Palace are the site of an al fresco barbecue restaurant – the Frangipani – that only opens in the evenings. The many frangipani bushes nearby was the inspiration for its name. It is open from October to March when the weather is pleasant. For approximately $30 per head they offer unlimited, eclectic selection of barbecue and grill delights like rosemary lamb chops, fish kasundi (fish marinated in mustard), achari gobhi (pickled grilled cauliflower), seekh kabab (minced mutton kebab), button mushrooms in pesto, barbecue chicken legs, prawn shaslik (kebabs) and more, as well as soups, salad and dessert
