Fodor's Expert Review Singhvi Haveli
Navchokiya, Ramdeo Ji ka chowk, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India
More than 500 years old, this hotel is located at the highest point of the old city, just below the fort, and today is a mildly eccentric hotel with accommodation sprawled across many levels, each room having a distinct look, with wonderful old knickknacks adding spice to the decor. The house was gifted by the maharaja of Jodhpur to his army commander Shri Akheraj Sa Singhvi in 1778. The highest rooms, more spartan, open out onto a terrace and have wonderful vistas of the Blue City. Other rooms open onto a second floor sitting area or into the courtyard. The best aspect of this haveli lodging is its vibe— traditional, local, and chilled out. The hosts take special pains to make you feel at home.
