Built of golden sandstone, this hotel away from the city center is spacious and elegant, and the rooms, with balconies, are arranged in haveli-style blocks around a series of small interior courtyards with skylights and fountains. Interiors are Western in style, with some Rajasthani touches and large, lovely windows; the suites are large and worth the price. The property includes a restaurant serving lunch and dinner, a small bar, a swimming pool, and a small spa. The hotel, popular with foreign tour groups, is run by the royal family of Udaipur's efficient hotel company, Historic Retreat Hotels.
