Fodor's Expert Review Town Hall

North Kolkata Notable Building

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Built with Doric columns in 1813, Town Hall was where Europeans of British India met to socialize. After India's Independence, the structure (and its paintings and statues) were thrown open to the public and subjected to rampant misuse. Thankfully, in the late 1990s, the Town Hall was restored and today houses the Kolkata Panorama museum, showcasing some of the city's cultural and historic milestones.
