Water Sports in Goa

Goa offers a variety of water sports, from adrenaline-generating Jet Ski rides and parasailing to more lighthearted banana boat and catamaran rides.

Parasailing. This is the most exciting water-sport experience in Goa: you take off and feel the wind hitting you across the lovely palm-fringed coastline. There are two ways to do it: either you take off and land on a winchboat in the water, or you descend onto the beach. You will find plenty of operators during the tourist season, but some of them have questionable safety standards. Use licensed operators at the luxury resorts if you happen to be staying at one, or use one of those with a history of operating in Goa. Parasailing around Sinquerim-Candolim-Calangute offers a spectacular view of Fort Aguada. Other recommended areas are near the Arrosim-Cansaulim and Utorda stretches, and Mobor Beach, in the south. From Miramar you can catch views of the Mandovi River meeting the sea. Rides last for three to five minutes and cost between Rs. 400 and Rs. 1,000; boat-ride charges are extra. You need to be comfortable with both heights and water.

Jet-skiing and waterskiing. Water sports operators in Colva, Candolim, Calangute, Miramar, Arossim, Utorda, Benaulim, Mobor, and Rajbaga are also set up for jet-skiing. It's an exhilarating, energetic ride, which lasts from 2 to 15 minutes. Usually instructors accompany you on the rides, which cost around Rs. 1,500. If you want to go waterskiing, the cost is between Rs. 400 and Rs. 1,200 depending on the length of the ride and the time of year; operators are at Candolim, Calangute, Arossim, Utorda, Majorda, and Rajbaga.

Scuba diving and snorkeling. Goa is not a great location for these sports, but there are a couple of reputable places to try both. They can both also help you get PADI certified although the water in these areas isn’t very clear.
