"New Jesse" is the shiny, clean version of Old Jesse, a popular if slightly run-down Shanghainese restaurant deep in the French Concession. This outpost lacks the Old World charm that the other branch has, but it has more seating and is smack bang in the middle of Xintiandi. You'll have much better luck getting a table here than at the original branch; when you do, try classics like hongshao rou (red-braised pork),bao zai fan (clay pot rice), and drunken chicken marinated in rice wine.
