Fodor's Expert Review The Waterhouse at South Bund
No. 1--3 Maojiayan Lu, Shanghai, Shanghai Shi, 200000, China
Aesthetics dominate at this hotel in a converted, 1930s warehouse—designed by local architecture champions Neri & Hu—and though rooms might feel too minimalist for some, there's no arguing that they aren't beautiful in their simplicity. The modern French restaurant in the hotel is excellent in its own right.
PROS
- intimate setting
- rooftop bar overlooking the Pudong skyline
- quiet location
CONS
- small rooms
- tucked away from main Bund sights
