Fodor's Expert Review Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay

148 Tung Lo Wan Rd., Hong Kong, n/a Hong Kong, Hong Kong See on Map

Tucked away from the hustle of Causeway Bay in a vast tower overlooking Victoria Park and Harbour, the contemporary Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay delivers a solid experience particularly aimed at business guests. Designed with swathes of glass across its sparkling exterior façade, the hotel’s material of choice makes the most of the impressive views from the higher floors and the spectacular rooftop pool.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Unlike some business hotels, the Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay is a totally smoke-free property.

Corporate comfort is the flow in rooms which come with molded wooden work stations for guests to get down to business while looking out on impressive green views of the nearby park. A blue colorway is tied together by generic artwork, thick carpet, and bedspreads in complementary shades.

Huge family rooms provide enough space for couples with older children.

Small bathrooms come with walk-in showers as standard, while family rooms come with a tub. All rooms follow the same theme, decorated in simple white tiles, pale green shades and dark marble vanities.

A spartan, neutral lobby is flooded with natural light from an atrium that extends from the ground floor. Occasional chairs are dotted around the marble interior space that is essentially just a place to check in and out.

The most luxurious aspect of the Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay can be found on the roof. Here, an impressive pool offers panoramic views over the Victoria Park and Harbour, elevating the hotel from a standard business property to something a little more luxurious.

The hotel’s rooftop fitness center features a well-equipped gym (with views) and a sauna.

The bright, open restaurant Café du Parc serves a menu of international favorites and local cuisine.

Vic’s Pub is a great alternative to classic, stuffy hotel bars with its wall of stars and open horseshoe bar—plus it comes with the sultry tones of in-house bar singer, Justine.

Getting Around

Guests gain a semblance of peace and quiet thanks to the hotel’s location in the residential end of Causeway Bay, however, the trade-off is a 20-minute walk to Times Square. Still, Tin Hau MTR Station is a few minutes away which makes hopping on the Island Line the easiest way to get around.

Close to the hotel, Sister Wah Beef Brisket (6-minute walk) is home to a truly authentic Hong Kong experience. Order the beef brisket noodles and prepare for culinary bliss. Comfort food doesn’t come much more fulfilling than a solid katsu curry, which you’ll find at the excellent Camper’s (9-minute walk) in Tin Hau.

Take your pick from the long line-up of beers at the Hong Kong Island Tap House (8-minute walk). If the views from the hotel pool have got you in the mood for more of the same, make for SKYE (13-minute walk), the rooftop bar at the nearby Park Lane Hotel.

The hotel’s removed location from the frenetic pace of Causeway Bay will appeal to guests who need a retreat at the end of the day. We can appreciate the comfortable rooms and the alternative entertainment in Vic’s Pub but the lure of the Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay is all about the rooftop pool.
