Lanson Place Hotel

133 Leighton Rd., Hong Kong, n/a Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China

Why We Like It

Favoring European style over typical Hong Kong glamour, Lanson Place is the thinking person’s boutique hotel, wowing us with its restful rooms and overall attention to detail. Sure, there’s no pool, spa or restaurant, but it’s a top pick all the same.

Fodor's Expert Review

A world away from the typically flashy, ever so slightly corporate looking hotel entrances that welcome guests to many hotels in this city, the sturdy rendered brick of the Lanson Place Hotel in Causeway Bay creates an impression in the form of its parred back, stately solidity. Inside, guests will be impressed with the luxury boutique hotel’s attention to detail, chic décor and gorgeous understated rooms with convenient kitchenettes.

You Should Know While technically in Causeway Bay, the hotel is removed from the bright lights of the city’s premier shopping district and has an appealingly quiet location.

Room

Decked in neutral creams, greys, and beiges, the considered rooms are a lesson in creating the ideal hotel environment. Calm and cozy, chic but not over the top, the rooms are impeccable. Compact kitchenettes in even the standard rooms provide the chance to cook for yourself—handy in a hotel with no dedicated restaurant.

Lobby

Even if the rooms weren’t so appealing, the watercolor frescoes, well-stocked bookcases, heavy drapes and low-slung armchairs of the lobby would have you fixing to stay awhile anyway.

Gym

A neat, compact gym has a line of top of the range machines that provide everything you need for a full workout.

Dining

The hotel has no full restaurant—offset in part by the kitchenettes in the rooms—but it does serve a buffet breakfast to guests.

Drinking

Guests can enjoy a drink in the lounge or indoor courtyard.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel’s location on the periphery of Causeway Bay offers a great escape from the buzz of the neighborhood but benefits from being just a short walk from the heart of Times Square and its restaurants and bars. Guests can walk to causeway Bay Station in 6 minutes for MTR connections.

Restaurants

Hip, contemporary restaurants line the pedestrianized walkway for ‘Food Street’ aka Houston Street towards the harbour at the edge of Causeway Bay. Take a stroll and take your pick from the rich pickings. For something a little more traditionally Asian, visit Din Tai Fung (1-minute walk) and eat some of the best dumplings you’ll ever try. Dumpling making is an art at this famous Taiwanese chain and visitors will not be disappointed.

Bars

If you fancy a change from the hotel’s low key piano lounge style, embrace the polar opposite at the nearby King Ludwig Beerhall (9-minute walk), a rowdy Bavarian beer hall in the middle of Causeway Bay. When you reach the huge crossing outside SOGO in Causeway Bay you’ll know you’re close to Flat 61 (4-minute walk), the cool upstairs beer and cocktail bar with a loyal following.
