Designer Philippe Starck's incredible ability to blend seemingly unblendable themes makes every corner an exercise in eye candy, but it isn't all style over substance: each white-swathed room is like a mini suite, full of cozy corners and splashes of color that combine old Hong Kong, Alice in Wonderland, and everyday practicalities. Complimentary afternoon tea and cakes, evening wine, and soft drinks are served in the handsome lobby—a surreal retreat with eclectic furniture and a huge Renaissance-style graffiti mural. The in-house Michelin-starred restaurant serves Italian fare, while surrounding restaurants deliver meals that can be enjoyed in the dining area of each unit. Privacy is paramount and no tour groups are allowed, so tranquillity is ensured; each floor has only around three units, so if you are traveling with friends try to book an entire floor for ultimate privacy.
