Train Travel

Bullet trains are the easiest, quickest, and most comfortable option. For the shortest journeys, look for G- or D-coded trains, or the letters CHR (China High-Speed Rail). Shanghai to Hangzhou, for example, takes approximately an hour, and there are roughly 30 daily departures. D-coded trains take 1 hour and 15 minutes. Slower trains are uncomfortable for long distances and best avoided.
