Bus Travel

For those travelers with plenty of time, daily bus service between Kimberley and both Cape Town (about 11 hours, R389–R422) and Johannesburg (about 6 hours, R227) is offered by Greyhound and Translux. The local company Tickets for Africa provides schedules, prices, and other information and sells tickets for all buses in and out of Kimberley.

Intercape Mainliner runs daily service and night coach service three times a week between Upington and Johannesburg/Pretoria (approximately 10½ hours, R280) and Sunday–Friday service from Upington to Cape Town (about 12 hours, R250) and to Windhoek (approximately 12½ hours, R330).

Intercape Mainliner operates bus service up the West Coast from Cape Town to Springbok (nine hours) on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings, stopping en route at Piketburg and Vanrhynsdorp in the Western Cape and Garies in the Northern Cape. Return service to Cape Town runs Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday late at night.
