Fodor's Expert Review Lookout Beach
Traditionally one of Plettenberg Bay's most popular beaches, Lookout Beach underwent radical change in recent years after the beach was washed away when the Keurbooms River flooded. Since then, a large swath of sand has been restored through natural tidal action, although the vegetation that separated it from the lagoon is gone. However, it is once again a popular spot with swimmers and surfers, and families and toddlers enjoy paddling on the lagoon side of what is essentially a large sandy spit. Happily, its Blue Flag status has also been restored. Amenities: food and drink; lifeguards in season; parking; toilets; water sports. Best for: surfing; swimming; walking.
