If you're short on time or budget, Schotia offers a good value, family-run, no-frills safari experience in a privately owned wildlife reserve bordering the eastern side of Addo; situated just 45 minutes from Gqeberha, it's incredibly convenient. Because of its small size (4,200 acres) and the fact that it's very densely stocked (more than 2,000 animals and 40 species) you're almost guaranteed to see a wide variety of wildlife—lions, giraffes, hippos, white rhinos, crocodiles, zebras, elephants, and all kinds of buck. The popular six-hour Tooth and Claw safari starts at 2:30 pm and includes a game drive and a tasty, generous buffet dinner served in an attractive open-air area with roaring fires.
