Air Travel

Two airlines—SA Airlink, SA Express—link Johannesburg to KMIA (Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport), at Mbombela (Nelspruit), which is equipped to handle the largest and most modern aircraft. KMIA has a restaurant, curio shops, banking facilities, car-rental agencies, VIP lounges, information desks, and shaded parking. SA Airlink has daily flights; SA Express also flies daily. SA Airlink also flies directly to MalaMala airstrip, which serves the Sabi Sand lodges and has daily flights to Skukuza Airport, in the middle of Kruger.

Hoedspruit Airport is an attractive little Africa-themed airport with a restaurant and curio shop. Connected to Johannesburg by SA Express daily, it's close to Kruger's Orpen Gate and serves the Timbavati Game Reserve. SA Airlink has daily flights between Johannesburg and Phalaborwa Airport, which is near Kruger's Phalaborwa Gate.
