Fodor's Expert Review Toadbury Hall

Beyers Naude Dr. Extension, Plot 64, Elandsdrift, Gauteng, South Africa

This small, upscale country hotel is well-located for trips into the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, though less so if the focus of your trip is Johannesburg. The rooms are predominantly white, enlivened with botanical prints; two rooms are given a New Orleans treatment. All rooms have underfloor heating, and bathrooms have separate showers and two sinks. The gardens are rolling and beautiful in summer (October to April), but less so in winter.
