Fodor's Expert Review Four Seasons The Westcliff
67 Jan Smuts Ave., Johannesburg, Gauteng, 2193, South Africa Fodor's Choice
The iconic Westcliff, now under the Four Seasons banner and with a $56-million revamp has been transformed into the paragon of a luxurious urban resort, while renowned chef Dirk Gieselmann has been whisked from France to oversee both the new View and Flame restaurants. The restaurants are perched at the top of Westcliff hill and accessible via panoramic glass elevators. Exquisite dining aside, the view of Johannesburg’s urban forest below makes the trip up worthwhile. All 117 rooms have been overhauled, each offering immaculate accommodation and all the refinements you’d expect from a five-star establishment. The resort’s business facilities are equally impressive. Staff exude a love for Johannesburg and are quick to recommend places of interest to international visitors. Guests are also offered escorted tours of inner-city cultural hubs like Maboneng and Braamfontein.
