$$ Mouille Point Eclectic

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the sea afford marvelous views at this restaurant in the Ambassador Hotel, so be sure to ask for a window-side table. Although limited, the menu offers something for most palates, and the food is a surprisingly good value, considering the smart surroundings. The prawn, Parma ham, and saffron risotto is a hearty starter, as are the steamed mussels in lemongrass, chili, and coconut milk topped with fresh coriander leaves. A wide range of seasonal salads suits as a quick lunch; for dinner, choose the more robust venison loin with blue-cheese polenta, mushrooms, and mulled wine. The lentil, butternut squash, and cauliflower curry accompanied by pilaf rice bejeweled with slivered almonds invokes vegetarian India. The plate of cookies, especially the peanut butter and chocolate chip ones, or the mini-dessert selection (to share), which might include sticky toffee bread and butter pudding, a lime tart, or homemade ice cream, are must-haves on the dessert menu. A tapas menu is offered for sundowners. This is a great spot for breakfast.
