Fodor's Expert Review Paranga
Attracting models and folks hoping to spot celebrities along Camps Bay's beach strip, Paranga is a high-attitude, stylish vantage point and an acceptable place to eat if you recognize you're here for the view more than the food. The terrace is shaded by a Bedouin-style tarpaulin. It's mostly popular with locals for a leisurely weekend breakfast, as the place can get very warm by lunchtime. A wide selection of salads will appeal to most palates. Start with the goat-cheese cake served inside crispy deep-fried kataifi (Greek-style shredded phyllo dough) with a spicy chili jam. Kingklip is served with a mango and coriander salsa, while beef burgers are served with horseradish mayo. The lounge-style music selection is a focal point, and, as at Ibiza's famed seafront Café del Mar, it's available for purchase. Check menu prices carefully, as some are more expensive than you might expect. Reservations are essential for summertime dinners.
