Fodor's Expert Review Dear Me
A leader in the Cape Town locavore food scene, this centrally located brasserie serves delicious fare that you don't have to feel guilty about. Start your day with anything from truffled eggs with exotic mushrooms to a tofu scramble, or homemade muesli accompanied by fresh juices, smoothies, and healthful treats like almond milk. Lunches always include great soups and salads, but also offer more decadent dishes like homemade gnocchi with Gorgonzola and walnuts or a juicy free-range beef-and-bacon cheeseburger. Dinners are available on Thursday and Friday nights only, held upstairs in the 200-year-old heritage building's romantically whimsical White Room. Tasting menus (five or eight courses) paired with wine showcase the chef's subtle and sublime take on dishes like yellowtail ceviche with chili and lime, pea-and-zuchini risotto, and poached trout. This isn't the kind of meal that you need to follow with a pizza, but it certainly won't leave you bloated.
