Why We Like It

A friendly and elegant boutique hotel in a quiet, leafy district below Table Mountain, the Three has some standout features, like its view-tastic rooftop deck and its interesting history, that lift it above the competition.

Fodor's Expert Review

On a quiet street in leafy Oranjezicht, this midsize boutique hotel has spacious, contemporary rooms laid out on two floors around a lovely courtyard in a beautifully restored old building. Public spaces are somewhat limited, with the breakfast room/bar, courtyard and pool all on the small side. The best public feature is probably the roof deck area with stunning views of Table Mountain and the city, though in summer the wind may keep you downstairs.

Tip For history buffs, the lovely old building has considerably pedigree. Formerly known as "Schoonder Sigt" (beautiful view), in the 1770s it was one of the most well-known manors in Cape Town and owned and occupied by the Commandant of the Castle, General Robert J. Gordon, who mapped huge parts of South Africa.
