Why We Like It
Charming style and fabulous service make this reasonably priced guesthouse in Sea Point a great base for exploring Cape Town. Although the immediate vicinity isn’t the most exciting part of town in terms of attractions and eateries, this quiet spot on the Atlantic side of the mountain is a real home away from home, and is about ten minutes' drive from almost everything.

Room
Neutral tones and all the comforts give individually decorated rooms a clean contemporary look, bumped up by gorgeous and richly hued textiles and funky South African designer touches. All rooms boast extra-long beds, AC, and TVs (you can borrow DVDs). Most have private balconies, and a few enjoy mountain or partial sea views.
Tip Families or a larger group might enjoy the 2-bedroom deluxe apartment superior suite, both of which come with fully equipped kitchens.
Bathroom
Though perfectly serviceable and pleasant, the bathrooms are probably the only element of the Lodge that don't trigger your Insta-finger.
You Should Know None of the rooms have bathtubs, but this is probably a good thing given Cape Town’s major drought.
Lobby
Elegant yet quirky African-chic decor--think light fixtures fashioned from teapots and tasteful paper or ceramic renditions of the trophy-animal concept--and a great fine art collection create richly textured and cozy public spaces. A constant stream of goodies like candy and cookie jars, freshly-baked afternoon treats, and plenty of worthwhile reading material invite you to really dig in and enjoy these spaces. Guests tend to gather in the small but inviting bar area in the evenings, or the light-filled conservatory-veranda by day.
You Should Know A small dog lives on the premises.
Pool
The saltwater pool is solar heated and surrounded by comfortable loungers (with towels) and a lovely (largely indigenous) garden, bright with bougainvillea, and potted plants.
You Should Know Due to Cape Town's drought, the pool may not always be full.
Dining
A filling continental plus hot breakfast are served in the conservatory-like veranda overlooking the pool and garden. Dinners can be provided on request.
Tip Most rooms do not have their own coffee/tea making facility or mini-fridges, but you can make use of the 24-hour room service for simple requests like cheese platters, sandwiches, and drinks (including complimentary coffee & tea).
Drinking
Wet your whistle and meet fellow guests at the small but well-stocked bar.

Getting Around
Although you'll get along just fine with Uber, having your own wheels is probably wise as you’ll end up driving to most sights anyway (especially for explorations farther afield), and the hotel’s ample parking makes it an easy option.
Restaurants
La Boheme (12-minute walk) is a friendly and casual wine bar with tasty tapas. The Mojo Market is a foodie's food-court with a cornucopia of options, and just around the corner, La Mouette offers Sea Point's best fine dining (both 7-minute drive). El Burro (4-minute drive) boasts a festive atmosphere and arguably Cape Town's best Mexican.
Bars
Harvey's at the Mansions (12-minute walk) is an old-school hotel bar with an outdoor veranda across the street from the Promenade, enjoying great sunset views.
