Founded by American couple Alissa and Josh Ruxin, this oasis of gourmet cuisine is a perennial favorite among foreign residents and affluent Rwandans for weekend brunch, evening cocktails, and special-occasion dinners with an international menu that ranges from Chinese stir-fry to pumpkin risotto to goat brochettes (a Rwandan staple). The wooden terrace with thatched-roof and recessed lighting affords spectacular hillside views, while art from the adjoining gallery bedecks the brick walls. Herbs and greens are grown on-site and organic produce is used where possible. Local favorites are given a decidedly foodie twist, such as the urwagwa sour cocktail, which pairs regional banana beer with citron and lemongrass.
