Accommodations

The capital city, Muscat, has a wide range of accommodations options, from hotels to apartment-hotels to full villa rentals to some of the finest luxury beachfront properties in the world. In most of the country you will also find mid-range accommodations that are basic and clean but lacking in design and frills.

Apartment and House Rentals

The concept of renting out private apartments using services like Air BnB and VBO, has yet to really catch on in Oman. In Muscat there are a handful of properties, but they sell out quickly and are on the pricy side. It is nice to have an apartment-style dwelling for extended trips, and for that, apartment-hotels are the best options. Most lack any kind of design charm, but they are typically spacious and a good value for larger families traveling together. This is beginning to change, as higher-end apartment-hotels are opening to cater to family travelers, especially those from the Gulf region who enjoy the privacy.

Bed-and-Breakfasts

There are no B&Bs in any of Oman's cities, though in the deserts of Sharqiyah, some of the desert camps follow a similar model, providing meals and offering a great deal of interaction between host and guest.
