From shrimp sautéed in a spicy pepper sauce to creamy baked whitefish dishes and enormous grilled sardines to Spanish-style cold anchovy, garlic, and olive-oil tapas, Ceutan seafood is an experience not to be missed. Moroccan influences are present in the form of couscous, as well as sweet-salty combinations such as prunes with roast lamb. A favorite pastime here is eating jamón serrano and drinking wine (both difficult to do just a few minutes away in Islamic Morocco).
For a quick snack, head to this no-nonsense tapas bar near La Plaza Nuestra Señora de Africa. Try the insalata russo (a Spanish take on the Russian Salade Olivier), a Spanish tortilla (a mix between an omelet and potato pancake), or some Serrano ham with bread.
