El Jadida

El Jadida it best known for its fabulous fortified old town, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. (The name El Jadida actually means "the New" and has alternated more than once with the town's original Portuguese one, Mazagan.) Yet this place has other enticements for tourists, too—including a large sand-rimmed bay and a pretty promenade lined with palm trees and cafés.
