Petra Visitor Center. The visitor center, next to the main entrance, is stocked with maps and brochures and can help you arrange local guides for a basic two-hour Petra tour for a flat fee of JD 15. If the weather is particularly hot, or if you're simply interested in the long and fascinating history of the place, check out the museumlike exhibition. It's a compact overview of Petra and will not take more than 15 minutes, but the site miniatures are helpful in getting your bearings before your visit.
