Strolling through the Siq by candlelight as shadows play on the canyon walls allows you to appreciate another side of the magnificent carved city. During this two-hour event offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting at 8:30 pm, music is briefly played on traditional instruments such as the rababa and lights are projected onto the Treasury facade. The walk from the visitor center through the Siq to the Treasury is about 2.4 km (1½ mile)—downhill on the way in, uphill on the way back. Keep in mind that you won't be alone; this activity has become increasingly popular and an unlimited number of tickets are available, so it can be crowded and not as charming as it once was. There are no carriages at night and you must have a valid daylight ticket in addition to the Petra by Night ticket. Purchase your Petra by Night ticket during the day to avoid the long queues in the evening, and consider leaving the Treasury before the end of the show to allow for some quiet time in the Siq before it's flooded with folks exiting at the end of the event.
