Fodor's Expert Review Taybet Zaman Hotel
Queen Rania St., Petra, Ma’an, 71810, Jordan
On the outskirts of the town of Taybeh, 9 km (5½ miles) from Petra, this charming lodging was an abandoned Bedouin village before it was revamped into a serene hotel that has every modern amenity. Rooms are spacious and decorated in authentic Bedouin style with throw rugs and wall hangings, a colorful counterpoint to the natural stone walls and arrrowroot-wood touches. Surrounded by thatched umbrellas, the pool is a great respite after a day of exploring. The central courtyard has a spice garden, and its yields are served in the hotel's excellent restaurant, which mixes Eastern and Western favorites. The buffet is worth a trip in itself.
