Bar'am National Park

In an otherwise deserted spot lie the ruins of Bar'am, one of the best-preserved ancient synagogues anywhere. Like most other synagogues uncovered in this area, this structure dating from the 3rd century faces south toward Jerusalem; unlike any other, however, this one has lavish architectural elements, such as an entrance with a segmental pediment and freestanding columns in front.
