The Tel Aviv shopping scene is the most varied in the country. It's Israel's fashion capital, and you'll find styles quite different from what you might see back home in terms of design and color. The real pleasure of shopping in Tel Aviv is access to the exciting creations of its cadre of young designers who have made waves around the world. Dizengoff Street, north of Arlozoroff Street, is where you'll find the shops of many of Israel's best-known designers.
If it's crafts and jewelry you're shopping for, Neve Tzedek is the place to go, especially along the main drag of Shabazi Street. Local crafts and jewelry also star in the Tuesday and Friday Nahalat Binyamin Pedestrian Mall, where prices can be lower than at regular stores and you can almost always meet the artist who made them. As for Judaica, there are a number of stores on Ben Yehuda and Dizengoff Streets.
A cooperative of 12 local artists, potters, and jewelry designers, this ceramics gallery on Neve Tzedek's main drag showcases everything from decorative art to Judaica and jewelry. Keep an eye on the events calendar for special exhibitions and festive happenings.
Kuchinate is an art-based NGO which provides jobs and community for African asylum-seeking women living in Tel Aviv. The crafts have their basis in African cultures and use a variety of mediums to produce items which have been displayed at art museums and other spaces in Israel and abroad. Guests are also welcome to book in for events such as art workshops or traditional tea ceremonies and engage more closely with the work being done to bring different communities together in Israel.
Carrying pieces by Israeli and international designers, this store is filled to the brim with interesting items, from kitchen accessories to handbags to children's toys.
