The Vera

27 Lillenblum, Tel Aviv, 6513102, Israel

Why We Like It

If the devil is in the details, The Vera is downright sinful. This is a hotel that hits every note, from beautiful decor, top-notch service to charming extra touches (a lovely roof deck, free wine tastings, round-the-clock cookies, luscious Turkish cotton robes) that make all the difference.

Fodor's Expert Review

Equal parts elegant and industrial, the Vera is one of the most exciting boutique properties to enter the Tel Aviv scene in a long time. The hotel's owner will tell you that every detail in this charming small property, from the hand-blown light fixtures to the butter-soft linens to the stirring poem engraved in the central stairway's bannister -- tell a story: the story of a love affair with Tel Aviv. With a central location, cherry service and truly beautiful decor, this hotel is a real gem.

Room

Done up in shades of cream, black and soft gunmetal gray, the rooms are peaceful and welcoming. All have 400-thread count Egyptian cotton linens, oak wood interiors and bluetooth sound speakers.

You Should Know The "Cosy" and "Superior Chill Room" both have tubs directly in the sleeping space, with no partition, so if you're traveling with someone that you don't want to see you bathe, book a different category.

Bathroom

Sleek marble floors and iron showerheads as big as flying saucers make these spacious powder rooms extra inviting.

You Should Know All the toiletries at The Vera are handcrafted by an Israeli artisanal soap maker called Arugot; they're offered up not in individual-sized bottles but larger, refillable family-sized bottles installed in the shower and tub areas in order to boost sustainability and save on plastic packaging.

Lobby

With a collection of comfortable seating, complimentary coffee, cookies and snacks and a handful of parlor games, the lobby invites you to linger. And adjacent wraparound outdoor terrace extends the atmosphere into the fresh air.

Tip The standout wine-tasting machine in the lobby is free of charge for hotel guests and offers sips -- in tasting, half-glass and full-glass portions -- of a variety of Israeli bottles. Just grab a glass and sip away.

Spa

The Vera hopes to open a small in-house spa by the end of 2018.

Dining

A rich breakfast buffet is served each morning in the lobby and features freshly squeezed juices, yogurts, cheeses, eggs and breads.

Drinking

The lobby bar offers a full range of cocktails, wines and beers.
