Why We Like It

Tel Aviv is packed with small boutique hotels, but Lily & Bloom stands out for its friendliness, its unabashed love for the city's history and its attention to detail. For those who want to be situated in the heart of the action and also have their hotel to be a respite from the hectic city, Lily & Bloom is just about perfect.

Fodor's Expert Review

Small, light-filled and friendly, this tiny boutique hotel on stylish Lilienblum Street bursts with love for Tel Aviv. Located just off of bustling Allenby Street and within walking distance of some of the city's best nightlife and restaurants, Lily & Bloom is perfectly situated for both business travelers and those craving a real taste of urban Tel Aviv. Its stylish decor will appeal to anyone with an eye for aesthetics, and dozens of small touches in both design and execution pay homage to Tel Aviv history.

Tip When you enter the hotel, take a moment to flip through the historical black-and-white Tel Aviv photos that are cleverly displayed in a vintage photo album. They were hand collected at flea markets by the owner's own mother.

Room

Rooms are comfortable and decent-sized, and hardwood floors and bright white linens keep things modern and fresh. Little touches including custom-made "Tel Aviv" wall signs (with curves that pay homage to the city's famed Bauhaus architecture) add character and flair.

You Should Know None of the rooms offer a great view; the sea and handsome Rothschild Boulevard are both within walking distance but this isn't the hotel to book if you'd prefer to gaze upon either from your room.

Bathroom

Toiletries from Israeli cosmetics company Sabon are offered on a chic and sloping wooden ladder, and a beveled sink and wide walk-in shower make for a comfortable powder room.

Lobby

Lily & Bloom's commitment to friendly design is most apparent in its handsome lobby, where there's a color scheme of forest green, black and brown and guests are invited to linger over coffee-table books and board games. A lush patio surrounded by green bushes makes for a small open-air urban oasis at the back.

Dining

A pleasant breakfast buffet of cheeses, fruit, yogurts and eggs to order is served every morning, and includes fresh-squeezed juice and unlimited coffee. At lunchtime, the lobby shifts over to "Lily's Cafe," where a light, Provence-inspired set menu is served.

Drinking

The Lily & Bloom bar is open from noon till 11, and also offers Happy Hour from 6 pm-8 pm, which includes a complimentary glass of cava and snacks for guests, and buy one, get one free cocktails.

Tip If you're a gin drinker, the Lily & Bloom bar will be right up your alley -- the hotel's owner stocks several top-shelf varieties and there are excellent and creative gin cocktails on offer.

Getting Around

Lily & Bloom's location is ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in urban Tel Aviv. Busy Allenby street is clogged with buses and taxis, and the very handsome Rothschild Boulevard, with its grand central pedestrian walkway and its many quaint coffee kiosks, is just a few minutes away by foot. Your best bet for exploring is to stick to walking -- the neighborhood is packed with hole-in-the-wall treasures, or if you need a bit more speed, rent a bicycle and zip around on the city's flat and well-paved streets.

Restaurants

For excellent Vietnamese food, walk just down the street to Hanoi (4-minute walk); even closer is Night Kitchen (1-minute walk), just across the street, with its intimate charm and quality Mediterranean fare.

Bars

For the ultimate in Tel Aviv trendiness, check out the very chic Aria (2-minute walk), which houses a bar downstairs and an upscale restaurant upstairs; those who want an unfiltered taste of Tel Aviv nightlife should wander over to Teder (6-minute walk), which gets started late and goes on till dawn.
