Why We Like It

The Daniel is a sprawling campus making the very best of its prime real estate, and for families, singles and businesspeople alike, its range of rooms and amenities offers something for everyone. With warm service and killer views, beautifully renovated rooms and a top-notch spa, it's hard not to fall in love with this beachfront gem.

Fodor's Expert Review

The high-ceilinged lobby at the Daniel Herzliya Hotel has a glass wall that lets you gaze out at the Mediterranean—and the rooms have even better views. A world-class spa offers a peaceful oasis just 10 minutes from Tel Aviv, and a wide range of room options, including suites and collections of adjoining doubles, offer comfortable options for groups of every size.

Room

There are eight categories of rooms at the Daniel, so take your pick: About half of the Daniel's more than 200 rooms are freshly renovated, with bright nautical-themed decor and gleaming windows. Some of the older rooms, however, offer superior sea views and generous balconies. And while a small handful of city-view rooms won't show you the sea, they do boast LCD TVs and dreamy king-sized white beds.

Tip Under the auspices of its Shizen Spa, the Daniel operates a resort-within-a-resort with unique "Zen" rooms that feature warm mustard and forest green decor, luxurious linens and a private dining area. The Shizen Spa rooms are adults only, so this is a great option for couples who want a quiet retreat away or girlfriends looking for a spa break together.

Bathroom

Across all room categories, bathrooms at the Daniel are spacious, with rainfall showerheads, custom toiletries and nice amenities like bathrobes and hairdryers. In renovated rooms, bathrooms are freshly tiled, with cheerful lighting and fresh flowers.

Tip Bathtubs are only available in the older, unrenovated rooms, so if you're into taking a soak over a shower, you'll have to sacrifice a bit on decor.

Lobby

The sprawling sea view offered from the Daniel's lobby is a legitimate showstopper. Comfortable seating and an on-site dairy restaurant serving coffee and small bites invite you to linger.

Pool

The Daniel offers two pools -- one indoor, which is heated, open year-round and accessible via the Shizen Spa -- and one outdoor pool with a view of the beach. In the summertime, expect families and splashing at the outdoor spot.

You Should Know The outdoor pool is only open in the summer months, and the indoor pool is restricted to ages 18 and up, so if you're traveling with small children who love to swim, take note.

Spa

Some hotels boast a "spa" when what they really have is a small treatment room or two offering simple massages. Not the Daniel. The on-site Shizen Spa is a bonafide campus of wellness, with 16 treatment rooms, an indoor pool, jacuzzi, wet and dry saunas, and every beauty treatment imaginable.

Gym

The Daniel offers a full selection of aerobic equipment, as well as yoga and meditation classes.

You Should Know The gym faces the Shizen's indoor pool and is fully visible through a glass wall, so if you prefer privacy while sweating, you won't find it here.

Dining

The Alma restaurant in the Daniel lobby serves coffee, cakes and a light dairy menu of pizzas, salads and sandwiches. A rich breakfast buffet is offered to all guests in the Hemingway restaurant and includes a wide range of cheeses, fruits, salads, and pastries, as well as eggs to order. For guests who book a room with full board, a standard but tasty lunch and dinner buffet is served in the same room.

Drinking

Poolside and in the Alma, guests can find a standard cocktail, wine and beer list that should quench any basic thirst.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Herzliya is a bit like the Hamptons of Tel Aviv: not so far from the big city, but isolated enough to feel well removed. Luckily, taxis are plentiful and easy to come by, and the heart of the big city is a quick 20-minute drive away.

Restaurants

For fresh seafood that's packed with Israeli flavors, head to the Herzliya marina and visit Derby Bar (15-minute walk); if you're into wacky presentation and cutting-edge Israeli chef masters, then you'll love the imaginative fare at Segev (8-minute drive). At the Tel Aviv Port, Kitchen Market (20-minute drive) offers beautiful views, divine Israeli flavors and lovely ambiance.

Bars

Beer lovers will feel right at home at Inga Bar (5-minute drive), a laid-back pub and gathering place; while those who prefer perfectly crafted cocktails will go bananas for Bellboy (25-minute drive), one of Tel Aviv's most prestigious cocktail bars which serves up sweet concoctions with a speakeasy theme.
