Why We Like It

Sometimes you don't want new and edgy -- you want a time-tested classic that offers every amenity imaginable. This is a hotel with all the trimmings, so when you want a big property with a pool, spa and round-the-clock food, where service is traditional and there's a great view to beat, it's an excellent choice.

Fodor's Expert Review

At the southern end of the beach, this high-rise is a short walk from Jaffa and Neve Tzedek. All the rooms and suites have balconies, many with the sea views that gave the hotel its name. While room decor feels a bit dated, the check-in area recently got a fresh and trendy upgrade, and the first-floor lobby has a new restaurant with a modern menu. The pool is said to be among the largest in the city, and the nearby barbecue grills are a plus in the summer.

Room

There's a lot of space to spread out here, even in the older rooms. Decor is tired and could use a fresh update, but since most rooms offer a sea view, the sparkling sea is a nice consolation.

Tip Specify in your reservation that you prefer a renovated room; there's a big difference in design and quality in the newer rooms.

Bathroom

You've got everything you need to feel at home, including a hair dryer, robes and complimentary toiletries. There's more than average counter space, as well, if you're the type to lug a lot of cosmetics and lotions in your suitcase.

Lobby

Head up one flight of stairs after check-in to find the hotel's sprawling lobby and bar, where there's lots of comfy seating, a well-stocked liquor supply and a dairy and fish restaurant offering creative plates.

You Should Know The lobby restaurant is freshly renovated and represents this older property's commitment to staying fresh and current in a crowded market. Their fish dishes are particularly tasty.

Pool

The sprawling swim area at the Dan Panorama is one of its brightest features; a poolside bar serves up food and drinks and there are plenty of sun deck chairs for lounging.

Tip If you're traveling with kids, you'll find the pool particularly welcoming; it's big with families and there are lots of shady areas for waterside play.

Spa

The Emerald Spa is privately run but operated by the hotel; it offers a full range of treatments in a newly designed space just off of the hotel lobby.

Gym

Small but functional, the gym features a full range of cardio equipment and can be accessed by your key card.

Dining

There's no shortage of food options here: Most room rates include a rich breakfast buffet that could feed a few small armies; for lunch and dinner, there's dairy and fish dishes at the lobby; meat options at the hotel bar; and if you request in advance, you can book a full-board package that includes buffet meals around the clock. Most of the food is tasty if not wildly imaginative, and it's all kosher, which is important for many of the Panorama's clientele.

Drinking

The lobby bar feels hushed and humble at night, and bartenders are happy to mix up all the classic cocktails.
