Fodor's Expert Review Ida

$$$$ Nahariya Israeli

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

On the main street, you'll recognize Ida by the white stucco building topped by a sign in big blue letters. Ida was the wife of the town's first mayor, and the couple lived here in the 1950s. The mood is relaxed and the service excellent. Gold roses are stenciled on several walls, and wood screens divide the interior into cozy areas. It's an impressive modern Israeli dining experience: start with duck confit with cranberry sauce or pickled sirloin carpaccio, then move on to shellfish risotto with a creamy shrimp sauce or the pan-fried trout with a coconut and carrot sauce. It'll be hard to say no to chocolate cheesecake as a finale.
