Air Travel

Flights to Eilat take off from Ben Gurion Airport (about halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv), Sde Dov Airport in north Tel Aviv, and Haifa Airport. Two domestic airlines serve Eilat: Arkia and Israir. Fares vary wildly, often cheapest for crack-of-dawn flights or off-hours. Eilat Airport, close to the middle of the city, is a short cab ride from the hotels and the resort action; however, a larger regional and international airport, Ramon Airport (www.ramon-airport.com), is scheduled to open during 2017. The new airport is 18 km (11 miles) north of Eilat; shuttles will take travelers to Eilat until a rail link opens. The existing airport will close when Ramon opens.
