Fodor's Expert Review Pension Roma
169 Shar'a Muhammad Farid, Cairo, Cairo, 11111, Egypt
This small pension in a beautiful neoclassical building is adored by students, backpackers, and travelers who know a good deal when they see one. The high-ceiling rooms are large—a few even have balconies—and beautifully appointed with 1930s-style furniture. These have ceiling fans; the seven rooms in the new extention have air-conditioning. Some rooms already have en suite bathrooms, and as of this writing, en suite showers are being installed in every room. There are well-kept communal showers and toilets in the hallway. The staff are more friendly and helpful than at many five-star hotels. The sunlit breakfast room is a great place to pick up tips from fellow guests on travel far afield.
