15 Tourists Who HATED TripAdvisor’s Top Attractions of 2019

Not everyone agrees that these were the places to be in 2019.

TripAdvisor has released the information pertaining to a very important question: What were the most booked tourist attractions in the world in 2019? Well, this answer will definitely not surprise you because, as it turns out, the top tourist attractions for 2019 were, in fact…the regular and very famous tourist attractions that everyone already knows people like to visit.

However, given that these are probably the most well-known and most popular tourist attractions in the world, they don’t always make for the perfect experience (especially if you have any sort of problem with crowds).

The (bad) reviews are in. Here are the worst things people have to say about the world’s top tourist attractions as determined by Trip Advisor by users on Trip Advisor.

There Are Too Many Steps in the Louvre

One visitor believes that there are too many steps in the Louvre. Plus, not only do you have to walk a lot, but it’s also hard to find stuff! Ugh, indeed.

Some people can’t even find the Mona Lisa! How is this possible? Where is the Louvre hiding her?

The Colosseum is Just Taking Pictures of Metal

This visitor warns that the colosseum is essentially just a place to take photos of “old metal.”

TripAdvisor

While there is probably plenty of “old metal” lying around, a quick search led me to some conflicting information:

So, it should be noted that if you are looking to photograph old metal, the Colosseum is actually not the best place to do so. Old concrete and limestone, maybe.

The Colosseum is Worn Out

This vacationer did not like how old the Colosseum looked, as they put it, “worn out.”

This Person Was… Also Disappointed

A gladiator from the past got caught in the wrong year and also knows how to post reviews online.

Do Not Eat in the Cafeteria of the Vatican

Whatever you do, do not—I repeat do not—visit the cafeteria at the Vatican. But don’t take it from me, take it from this guy.

TripAdvisor

Only Go to the French Quarter If You Are “Out of Control”

Known for its excessive partying, the reviews for the French Quarter in New Orleans are definitely written by people who don’t want to do that.

TripAdvisor

Wear a Full Hazmat Suit When You Visit the French Quarter

One vacationer suggests you don a full hazmat suit before visiting the French Quarter. Our advice, however, would be that if you are someone who would feel the need to do that in the first place, probably don’t visit the French Quarter.

TripAdvisor

Warning: Do Not Go Near the Eiffel Tower

You don’t have to go near it, says this user. Just look at it from afar. We would actually like to further this sentiment and say: Just look at a picture of it online!

TripAdvisor

There Was NO MUSIC and the BEERS WERE SMALL at Piazza San Marco

You know what? We’re with this user. Small beers? Are you kidding?

TripAdvisor

Impossible to Enjoy Because of All of the Feeding Going On

According to this user, Piazza San Marco was impossible to enjoy because cops were not stopping people from feeding the pigeons.

Seems to Be a Lot of Scams Going on With Sagrada Familia Tickets

In all seriousness, it seems like a lot of scams are happening with people purchasing tickets for the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

TripAdvisor

INSIDER TIPGenerally, it is advised that you purchase tickets directly through the museum and not through (possibly scammy) tour sites. If you do purchase through tour sites (legitimate ones exist), just be sure to do your research beforehand to make sure it’s safe.

The Willis Tower and Skydeck Chicago Is an Overrated Elevator

Well, when you put it like that…

TripAdvisor

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This is horrifying.

TripAdvisor

This Trip to the Statue of Liberty Is a Casual Horror Story

Please be on the lookout for scammers!

TripAdvisor

Look, these places are great, but they’re also exactly what they’re advertised as: the “top tourist attractions.” No one place is an absolute “must-see” unless it’s personally meaningful to you in some way—otherwise, you’ll probably just show up and get annoyed and wind up saying to whoever you’re traveling with, “This is it?”
