Prepare to Be Awestruck by These Over-the-Top Disney Honeymoon Suites

Every Disney World deluxe hotel has its own signature presidential suite that ties into the resort’s story and theme, from a nautical turret tower with an octagonal living room at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort to the recently remodeled Yosemite Suite with exclusive Bambi artwork and steam shower at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. But no presidential suite is as grand as the Royal Asante at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Located inside Jambo House, the $3,200+ a night accommodation features artifacts from The Lion King on Broadway as well as a giant flatscreen TV in nearly every room of this condo-sized suite. Of course, there’s no need to watch TV when you can watch more than 30 species of African wildlife, such as giraffe and zebra, mere feet away from the suite’s terrace. Even cooler: The main bathroom is outfitted with a spa-like soaking tub with a direct view of the savanna.

Disney World hotels fall into three budget tiers: value, moderate and deluxe. But don’t let the labels fool you. One of the most gorgeous, posh suites with the best views is at a moderate. The Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs is a true hidden gem. The new addition feels like a deluxe building within a moderate resort with Gaudi-inspired decor, rooftop tapas, and the Alcazar Suite. Compared to other presidential suites, this accommodation is a bargain at just over $2,000 a night. The Moorish-style space is light on Disney theming but heavy on statement lanterns, intricate trellis motifs, and stunning mosaic tiles. The drama continues right outside the floor-to-ceiling windows as the suite features some of the highest views on the property of Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom. And the main bathroom is the epitome of vacation goals, from luxe tech such as a giant towel warmer to the gorgeous, free-standing tub to a beautiful Moorish-style vanity that would be picture-perfect for a Disney wedding bridal suite.

The Four Seasons Orlando is the best Disney loophole for adults without kids. Technically, it’s within the mouse house gates, albeit in the coveted Magic Kingdom resort area. But unlike official Disney World resorts, the FS has an adults-only quiet pool. And that is worth every penny for a honeymoon. Standard rooms and suites all feature the super-fluffy Four Seasons bedding and futuristic tech such as an in-room wine machine that pours on-demand red and white by the glass. But for the ultimate big spender, you can’t get more over-the-top than the 16th floor, which features two signature suites: The Presidential and The Royal. Both suites can connect with additional suites on the floor for a mega labyrinth of mini-suites as well as wrap-around terraces (complete with full patio pergolas!) for the ultimate fireworks-in-the-round view of multiple parks at night. The Presidential comes with a personal gym, a soaker tub overlooking the theme parks, and a secret TV projector in the main bedroom that magically drops out of the ceiling. But if that’s not a big enough screen, The Royal Suite has its own private movie theater. Can’t decide? You can always rent both. Or the entire 16th floor for about $80,000 a night.

You can’t talk about Disney honeymoons without mentioning Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa on Oahu. It’s the perfect balance of Hawaiian island paradise with Disney character magic. Nowhere else in the world can you order Mickey-shaped shave ice. And the spa’s outdoor hydrotherapy garden is an absolute must. For the ultimate view of “the line where the sky meets the sea,” Aulani’s signature suites are perched atop Waianae Tower with panoramic ocean views. The one-bedroom Lei Hulu suite, which costs more than $3,000 a night, features a whopping ​​1,500 square feet with a butler pantry, jetted tub, and canopy king bed.

Not to be outdone, the resort’s two-bedroom Ahu Ula suite, which can cost up to $4,500 a night, has extra space (nearly 2,000 square feet!) and extra features such as a dramatic four poster bed, lava flagstone bathroom flooring and a clawfoot tub with a see-through wall that looks out onto the main bedroom and balcony.

Tokyo Disneyland is generally considered the “sorcerer supreme” of all Disney resorts. It has the most impressive tech, most unique attractions, and the most creative food. And the resorts are just as detail-oriented in theming. The character rooms at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel are definitely a bucket-list stay, but they’re intended for larger families. The Beauty and the Beast suite is aesthetic gold, but most of the square footage is for additional beds. For something $$$$ that’s more romantic and one-of-a-kind, the Walt Disney Suite trades overt character theming for subtle references and lavish, Main Street U.S.A.-chic furnishings. The namesake penthouse (which has a current rate of 500,000 yen a night, around $4,300 US dollars) has modern amenities, too, such as a giant spa-style steam shower, jetted bathtub and a casual solid bronze Mickey statue in the foyer.

No hate on the Italian-themed Vegas hotels, but the Hotel MiraCosta does it so much better. How can you compete with a literal recreation of a Roman bath or a gift shop called MickeyAngelo? And the Venetian-themed resort doesn’t just overlook the Tokyo DisneySea theme park, it is part of the park. The Harbor Grand View Terrace Room features a 300+ square-foot terrace that juts right into the park’s Porto Paradiso harbor. And the top-floor Terrace Room on the hotel’s Venice side features the same giant balcony overlooking the park’s Palazzo Canals.

Disneyland Paris isn’t the biggest park. It’s not the newest. Nor is it the cleanest because public smoking is still very much a thing. But it is the most beautiful. The park’s aesthetic is an eloquent combination of Disney stories done in the style of popular French art and architecture movements. Here, Sleeping Beauty Castle has flying buttresses and massive stained glass triptychs. This level of sophistication makes it the perfect spot for a Disney honeymoon. And while the park’s namesake hotel would be top of the list, it’s undergoing renovations right now. However, the nearby Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of MARVEL just got a major MCU upgrade with swanky, Tony Stark-approved presidential suites. These two-level pads feature custom, exclusive Marvel artwork in each room as well as a baby grand piano in case you feel like playing some of the Avengers score.

If you’re the type of traveler who prefers homes over hotels, Villages Nature Paris is your honeymoon escape. Just down the road from Disneyland Paris, it’s like staying at an Airbnb that you book through Disney. In fact, former Imagineer Joe Rohde had a hand in the artistic direction for all aspects of the eco-community. You won’t see Disney characters on the property as this resort is all about relaxation and connecting with nature, from a heated pool that rivals Iceland’s Blue Lagoon to a salt cabin literally lined with Himalayan pink bricks. And the village VIP apartments not only have the most space but the best views from the enormous sun deck and jetted tub.

If you thought the themed suites at the Disneyland Hotel were incredible, brace yourself for the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. It’s not just club-level here. It’s “Kingdom Club” with themed amenities for each themed suite. Book a Cinderella Suite and you’ll enjoy Cinderella-themed toiletries, robe and slippers, and an in-room snack platter that includes tiny mandarin pumpkins, dainty glass slipper patisserie, and mozzarella bites shaped like Cindy’s broom. The room itself features fairytale magic, too, such as an actual glass slipper on a satin pillow in the corner of the living room and a CC: a coach couch. 

Over at the Disney Explorers Lodge, the Adventurers Suite has the best Easter eggs for diehard Disney fans, from a Jungle Cruise skipper boat to Maui’s hook on the wall. This isn’t just good theming, the suite has a full-on backstory. It’s actually Mickey and Minnie’s residence and they’re just letting you crash. The space features mementos from their travels as well as journals, keepsakes, and an adorable vignette in the hall closet that displays their safari shoes as well as their vintage-style suitcase. There’s even an in-room scavenger hunt with a prize and souvenir certificate. And the story continues when you leave because suite guests get to enjoy complimentary resort transfers in a themed Land Rover Defender.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, Shanghai Disneyland is the youngest Disney resort and arguably the shiniest, from the revamped, teched-out Pirates of the Caribbean ride to Tron-inspired light cycles. The incredibly posh Shanghai Disneyland Hotel has an overall Art Nouveau theme with giant lobby chandeliers that look like oversized Tiffany lamps and whimsical, carved dark wood molding throughout the hotel. The two signature club-level suites, the Sorcerer and the Fantasia continue the Art Nouveau theming but also feature a nod to the 1940 animated classic with custom oil paintings inspired by “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “The Nutcracker Suite” segments.
