From all-night dance parties to underground art bars, Tel Aviv is redefining what it means to be the city that never sleeps.
Tel Aviv is a tale of two cities. A bustling metropolis consisting of hard at work Tel Avivians by day, but at night the city comes alive, fully embracing the old “work hard, play harder” mentality. While there’s probably no better time to experience Tel Aviv nightlife in all of its bacchanalian glory than the late winter-early Springtime festival Purim—the Israeli equivalent of Mardi Gras meets Halloween—one thing you can be certain of is that on any given night here, anything is possible.
“Ten or even 12 years ago there weren’t a lot of options when it came to going out,” Nadav Neeman, nightlife coordinator and co-owner of bar/nightclub Kuli Alma said. “Now there is so much more. The city is evolving and in terms of nightlife, there’s big venues for parties, there’s small cocktail bars, beer bars and you don’t need to wait until the weekend, there’s something for everybody and you can go out every day until 4 or 5 a.m. even on a Monday.”
With so many options to choose from, from underground gallery bars and clandestine speakeasies to one of the world’s most acclaimed all-night DJ dance parties, these are the best places to let your hair down on your next trip to the White City.
