#NotBadNews: How to Be Your Neighbor’s Best Friend

From Drag Queen delivery to a cheese sauce recipe, these are the things that made us smile today.

Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.

South Dakota Wants You to Visit

But preferably from your couch. The state is taking you to their parks, virtually, to explore the area’s biodiversity and the animals that call South Dakota home.

Whether you’re looking to embark on a buffalo safari or just meander about their trails, South Dakota (and their website) have something for you. So put on your best exploring outfit, grab a Cliff Bar, and settle in on the couch because until we can travel again, this virtual experience is what we’ve got, so let’s make the most of it!

The Delivery Service Not to Be Outdone

A Photo Shoot Quarantine Style

You might be wondering how Catherine O’Hara managed a photoshoot for Vanity Fair while maintaining social distance and the answer is pretty simple: a drone. The fashion magazine teamed up with the Schitt’s Creek actress to take the quarantine challenge of a long-distance photo shoot head-on.

What sounds like an America’s Next Top Model challenge might be the standard for a bit, and we’ve got to say, O’Hara killed it. There’s no doubt this photo would be the first in Tyra’s hand.

The Twitter Question With Seriously Cute Responses

One Twitter user took to the social media site to ask her followers what improvements they’ve made to their homes this quarantine, and the responses are equal parts cute and inspiring.

Some were practical with their updates, putting up shelves and adding organization systems. One person even went so far as to create their very own reading nook, the perfect place to get-away inside their own home.

And others had some serious fun with incredibly cute results—take for example, this cat fort.

No matter how big, small, practical, or simply fun the project, they all left us feeling inspired, something quarantine could use more of.

Shake Shack’s Not-So-Secret Sauce

While the spot might be known for their smash-burgers, any true fan knows Shake Shack’s best lies with the cheese sauce. It’s far from the cheese sauce you’d get at a sporting event but nowhere near overly gourmet–this sauce has found itself in a sweet spot, and its fans can’t get enough.

This week, the restaurant took to social media to give the people what they’ve been wanting: the recipe! Follow along for the appetizer that takes next year’s Super Bowl party up a notch.

Will I make this and pretend it’s a recipe I invented à la lighting my Glade candle and acting like it was something far more expensive? There’s a good chance.

This Dog’s Newest Walker

When this family got a new puppy, their neighbor could not have been happier. Sending an adorable letter, he asks the simple question of, “Can I walk your dog?”
