A recent social media challenge called the “10-year challenge” has users capturing pictures that reflect this information. The challenge asks people to share photos of themselves in 2009 and 2019, but some environmentalists recognized this could be a chance to shine a light on the Earth’s well-being. Several of the photos, including one from New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and German soccer player Mesut Özil, showcase melting glaciers.

“We need to do everything we can to make sure this #tenyearchallenge is not the reality of our planet in 2029,” Booker said in his caption.
