Hold on to Your Butts at London’s Zoorassic Park

(Robotic) Life has found a way.

On July 22, London’s Zoo opened its summer exhibit:  full-sized robotic replicas of dinosaurs, called Zoorassic Park.  A “time travel safari” will transport visitors back in time 65 million years ago to the Mesozoic era, where they will behold dinosaurs ranging from the horned triceratops to the bloodthirsty tyrannosaurus rex and even flying pterodactyls.

Fitted with sensors that enable them to spit, roar, and move in response to visitors, the cyborg dinosaurs are decidedly realistic. The exhibit closes with another time travel leap to the future to 2050 to showcase the work of the conservationists  from the Zoological Society of London and their efforts to prevent the extinction of today’s animals.  Clever girls.

The exhibit runs for six weeks and is included in the ticket price of the zoo. Welcome … to Zoorassic Park.
